Why Some People Lack Confidence

A major goal of hypnosis is to improve your self-esteem and confidence. If you truly believe in your own abilities, you will find it much easier to persuade other people of them. Feeling good about yourself will have a valuable knock-on effect in many areas of your life, from improving your relationships with colleagues, to helping to persuade clients to buy products, and even helping you to have a successful love life. It will undoubtedly help with assertiveness - if you believe in yourself you will feel far more capable of standing up for your rights even in confrontational situations.

Self-esteem

A lack of self-esteem is often something that is deeply rooted in a person's past, It can be a style of thinking inherited from judgmental parents, who continually put their child down to persuade him or her to work harder. This can lead to the acquirement of a critical inner voice which produces internal fear and feelings of self-doubt.

Fear of failure is an immobilising condition that is often the product of past negative programming. People fear that they will not be able to accomplish certain tasks because they are not worthy of accomplishing them. Furthermore, they can tell themselves that if they manage to succeed at one level, they will only then have to succeed at a higher level next time. Self-esteem can also be affected by the way people perceive themselves physically. If they view their appearance in a negative light, this is likely to reflect in their body language, and will make them appear far less confident.

Social phobia

An extreme lack of confidence which causes someone to go out of their way to avoid social gatherings is called social phobia. The person may worry about being the centre of attention and may feel that everyone is scrutinising their behaviour. Around 2 per cent of men and 3 per cent of women suffer from severe social phobia, and a further 7 per cent of the population show a tendency towards it. Nobody really knows why people develop social phobia - some psychologists believe that they get stuck in the normal stage of shyness and fear of strangers which all children experience.

Hypnotherapy allows us to get back to where these 'conditioning' thoughts have developed from and deal with them - we can then move on to eradicate those or to give counter Hypnotic suggestions to project yourself in a more positive light.
